沼津御用邸記念公園

The Numazu Imperial Villa was built in 1893(in the 26th year of the Meiji era), as a place of rest by Emperor Taisho (then the Crown Prince). After several expansions it has become a large-scale residence with a building area of about 5750 square meters and more than 100 rooms. During the bombing of Numazu in World War II, the main building of the villa was hit by a bomb and burned down. The villa went under the Numazu city government in 1969, and opened again to the public as the Numazu Imperial Villa Memorial Park in 1970. In 2008, it was an important example of historical and cultural value as a suburban beach resort in modern Japan, as well as an excellent scenic landscape such as the black pine forest surrounding the park and Mt. Fuji seen from the forest. It has been designated as a national scenic spot as the "former Numazu Imperial Residence".

West Annex

It was built as the Imperial Villa of Emperor Showa in 1883.
After several extensions, the villa found the final shape in 1918.
The wooden one-story building with a total area of 1,270 square
meters and 26 rooms is a very valuable court building
that represents the country.

East Annex

In 1897, the official residence of Daio Higashimiya of the Akasaka Palace was relocated and built as a school for Emperor Showa. When the main residence disappeared due to the war damage, it was also used for the stay of the imperial family after the war.
